Standard specifications for cable trench covers primarily depend on the product material, the operating environment, and the type of project involved. Currently, specific standards and technical documents exist for cable trench covers made from various materials. For instance, the prevailing group standard T/CIA 002-2022, *Composite Material Cable Trench Covers*, outlines requirements regarding classification, structure, materials, technical specifications, test methods, and inspection rules; it applies to relevant projects in sectors such as electric power and transportation.
Dedicated standards also exist for concrete cable trench covers. T/CBMCA 037-2023, *Concrete Cable Trench Covers*, applies to covers used for indoor and outdoor cable trenches and cable manholes, covering aspects such as product classification, dimensions, raw materials, technical requirements, testing methods, and inspection rules. Additionally, the industry standard *Prefabricated Concrete Cable Trenches and Covers* has been issued, applicable to prefabricated concrete cable trenches and their covers in underground power transmission and transformation, distribution network, and communication pipeline projects.
The national standard GB 50217-2018, *Code for Design of Electric Power Engineering Cables*, also sets requirements for cable trenches and covers. For example, the material and structure of the covers must meet actual load-bearing and environmental durability requirements; within power plants or substations, the weight of a single removable cover section should ideally not exceed 50 kg. Furthermore, in locations near oil-filled equipment, factors such as cover sealing and the prevention of oil fires from entering the cable trench must be considered.
When selecting cable trench covers, one should not rely solely on the product name but must also consider the installation location, load-bearing requirements, material, and engineering design. If composite material covers are chosen, the relevant product standards for composite materials should be consulted; if concrete structures are used, the corresponding standards for concrete covers apply. For substations, power plants, roadways, and industrial projects, specifications, load-bearing ratings, and installation methods must be determined based on specific design documents and project technical requirements to ensure compatibility between the covers and the overall cable trench system.
